June 24, 2010: Bangkok Clouds

If you saw yesterday’s post, Satellites, you probably gathered that I was up on the roof of my building.  Well, I was able to capture a few more shots, including this one of some very surreal clouds.  I’m a little on the fence with this image, as it seems to me like it is leaning a little bit too far on the surreal side.  However, maybe you have another opinion?

One of the things I am happy with in this composition, is the layer masking of the street.  I’m just getting into more of this advanced technique, but essentially since this was compiled from three exposures, there was some ghosting going on on the highway.  I layered the images and kept only  the cars from the best image, and this was the result.

Hey Sean,

I like this image and don’t feel it is too over the top. I really like the bright colored buildings in the foreground. Those really capture my eye. What I don’t really like is the darker colored clouds at the top although on my monitor at home they look better than they did at work. Very interested in hearing more about the layer masking you did. The highway looks great! Loving these daily HDR photos.
