July 10, 2010: Beach Bungalow

by sean on July 11, 2010

If there is one thing that isn’t in short supply here on Ko Tao, it would have to be the bungalow.  Ranging from the shack like accommodations that I’m currently paying about $6 a night for, to plush air conditioned cabanas, there is really something for everyone here.

I got this shot as I was hanging out on the beach at sunset.  I’ve been shooting sunset after sunset, and while its been good practice with techniques and camera settings, I realized that I needed to start branching out if I were really going to improve my photography.  So I turned the camera around.  I was immediately drawn the texture of the steps, and the way the light was lighting up the side of the building.

This photo is also the first time I’ve composed a 5 shot bracketed image.  As I get better I know I’ll be able to extract more detail out of the trees, and hopefully improve the color balance a little bit, but I think an important step is the fact that I’m now realizing that these are things that need to be fixed.  Let me know what you think!
