I was out walking around downtown Portland the other day and looking for some interesting HDR shots, and I came across this iconic sign. While I’d really like to do more with this location in the future under different lights and different weather, I was pretty pleased with how this one came out.
The “Portland” sign marks the landmark Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall on Broadway where some of the cities best concerts take place. I debated doing this one in black and white, but just really loved the aquamarine green of the sign, as well as the grittiness of the red bricks in the neighboring buildings.
This was a three bracket composition shot with a Nikon D5000 and a sigma 18-200mm lens at an aperture of f/10.
